10 Golden Rules
2. Never depend on anyone else to be happy. Never depend on anyone else to make you happy.
3. Accept the fact that you and your spouse are really TWO individuals. If you can accept that, then most of your problems will be solved by themselves.
4. Your spouse can have things that they like, and you may not like them. Instead of forcing yourself do those things with them and ending up bitter, just happily let them do what they want to and you do things you like.
5. Do not always expect your spouse to do things to make you happy. You do things to make yourself happy. When you are happy you automatically will do things that will make them happy.
6. Do not worry about what others say or think. Do what you feel is right for you without hurting others. You are the only person you have to answer to and also the only person who have to be better than.
7. There maybe certain things in life that you may not be able to accept. Your spouse may have a certain quality or attitude that is totally against your beliefs. Don't stand up totally against it and fight it.
8. Every one has their own interests & common interests with their partner - don't convert them forcibly. Introduce them to your interests but let them make their own decision & at the same time be open to their interests. You don't have to like them all.
9. A marriage is two people with totally different wavelengths trying to make music together. If the pitch & frequency is not complementary, no harmonious melody can be heard; only static will occur. In most situations, a woman's store of infinite patience, self-belief and seeing things in the broader context of family rather than me/mine, will certainly help, in creating a symphony.
10. Make sure, you give in - all fights should be resolved at the earliest. You give up your ego for your own personal gain emotionally. You will notice a magical change in your spouse, the next morning. This is one instance where we win ultimately by losing ourselves. You stand to gain!

Friends and life
Sometimes you don't know how special your friends are until you've lost them... or at least you're away for a while.
A good friend is someone who is there for you and you are there for them. They understand you and welcome you in their life as a special person.
For me a good friend is someone who is willing to hang out with you, talk to you whether you are happy or in pain. You seem to just connect. You need to trust them and you in turn need to be trustworthy. You both give and take.
A big thanks to all those special people in my life - "my friends": thanks a lot for being such an integral part of my life, I can't even imagine what my life would be without you. I am truly blessed to have you in my life.
Life without friends
Is like open fields without the rain.
No one is to share a word with in a day,
No one is to wipe your tears away.
Life without friends
Is like no water in an empty road.
No one is to give you a hand nor a hug,
No shoulders are to lean on.
I am running dry, my friend!!
My tears soak the road you walk.
Give me a chance, let´s talk!!...
Why don´t you give me a hand??
You melt and bury my tears in the sand.
Life without true friends
Is a lonely life to lead.
Let me plant the love seeds
In your heart to the end!!
Would you be my true friend??
We don't choose our family but we do choose our own set of friends.We all have our own set of friends, and best friends amongst them, and more often than not we fight, argue, then make up.
A special salute to all those who had stood by me in thick and thin, all those special people in my life.
A true friend is someone who knows there’s something wrong even when you have the biggest smile on your face.Never try to hide your sorrows from your friends, they will find out anyway even if you tried hard; and as the saying goes ” Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, “What! You, too? Thought I was the only one.”
Thanks guys for being there, can't tell you how important you are to me...cheers to our friendship!!!

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost - my all time favorite!!!
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Yercaud 2009
It was an impulsive trip that we planned and set out for Yercaud.
We hired a cab and left Bangalore at 6AM on Saturday, 11th July 2009….stopped by at Adyar Anand Bhavan near Krishnagiri for about an hour for breakfast. The roads are simply beautiful all the way up to Salem. We made it to Yercaud by 12:00 noon i.e. about 5 hours.
Yercaud is about 30 kms from Salem and there are 20 hairpin bends during the ascent, apart from other bends. The view of the hills on the way and clouds floating around was mesmerizing.
We checked into the hotel Shevaroys in one of the Orchid Suites. Had lunch at the Silver Oak (one of the restaurants in the Shevaroys complex)…food was amazing…
Relaxed for a while after lunch and then set out to explore Yercaud. Went down to Yercaud Lake and took a row boat. By the time we were done with the boating, it looked like it was going to rain….Took a walk near the lake and then Ankur (my better half) took the camel for a ride :-)
While I feasted on Buddi ke baal and bhutta, Ankur had hot piping mirchi bhajjis with coffee. We couldn’t go anywhere else as it had started pouring by then. Hence went back to the hotel and spent some time in the balcony attached to the suite enjoying the rain.
We went to Red Dragon (a Chinese restaurant in the hotel complex) for dinner and drinks. Food as again was excellent….had a great time…went for a walk after dinner…it was biting cold…thoroughly enjoyed it.
We were so tired by the time we can back into the suite that we hit the bed immediately and slept like logs.
The next morning i.e. Sunday, 12th July 2009 was beckoning us with open arms. We had our morning coffee/tea in the balcony and then got ready by 9 am….went to Silver Oak for breakfast. Then we went for a “Plantation Walk” in the hotel complex, which was simply awesome. Coffee bushes and a curvy path inside the plantation was something that cannot be described, only experienced. I highly recommend you stay at Shevaroys and if you do, then don’t miss the plantation walk for anything.
Our first destination was the Pagoda Point, a view point from where you can see Salem town. The next stop was Lady’s seat, another view point from where you can see Yercaud. There is a Rose Garden near Lady’s seat which has beautiful flowers and also is a great place for a quiet walk into nature. From there, we went on to Anna Park….a picnic getaway and then proceeded to Ornamental Lake and Montfort School (one of the oldest and most famous convents in Yercaud).
Exhausted with all the walking and sight seeing, we then returned to the hotel for lunch, our last lunch in the Shevaroys. Had a sumptuous lunch and then checked out of the hotel. We then decided to go in for boating one last time, and this time took a paddle boat…After the boating, it was time to bid adieu to Yercaud and head back home….We left Yercaud by 3:30PM and made it back to Bangalore in 4 hours flat i.e. by 7:30 PM inspite of having stopped for coffee (small breaks) a couple of times on the way.
All in all, it was truly a wonderful trip and we had the time of our lives….it has been one of my most memorable trips ever and will remain so for a long time to come!

Integrity/Success
I sometimes wonder, have I let my integrity slip in order to succeed? Have there been times that I was willing to look the other way or take the easy way out in order to avoid conflict or gain acceptance?
Everyday we are offered opportunities to sacrifice our integrity on issues that may be of the utmost importance or on ones that appear insignificant. Without our integrity, there is no way that we can feel good about ourselves. Success and loss of integrity are not synonymous. In fact, true success requires great integrity.
These "little" incidents of integrity slippage eat away at us like termites. How important it is to stop and take a look at the decisions we have made! What a relief it is to know that our valued integrity is there deep within us and that we can reconnect with it at a moment's notice.
Checking for possible slips of integrity allows me to feel better about myself....

If
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you ’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that ’s in it,
And—which is more—you ’ll be a Man, my son!

The Secret
To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.
To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.
To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me.
